5 Reasons Why Failure Is Good

One might questions whether failure is good or not.  I don’t know about you, but if I didn’t fail at things, I would never be good at anything.   Failure and success go hand in hand and I am here to tell you that failure is good.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” -Winston Churchill

Failure is a word that does not exist, not really. People believe that failure by definition is the opposite of success, but that is not the case at all. In fact, failure cannot be the direct opposite of success when it is something one must experience in order to be truly successful

Failure has negative implications. Like, if you are not successful at something then it means you are a failure. Well here’s some news, that is the kind of thinking that will hold you back. We create our own failure by saying that we failed just like we decide our own success by defining what success is to us.

That said, there are times in everyone’s life when we are brave and we venture outside of our comfort zones to achieve something that we are unable to achieve.

Here are 5 Reasons Why Failure Is Good

1 Failure moves you forward – when we fail at something or do not achieve a goal we set out to achieve, sometimes we are forced to move on to something else that is much better for us and that makes us happy. Don’t forget, Michael Jordan set out to be a baseball player before he began his career as an NBA superstar.

2 Failure is a teacher that you would never be successful without -Here’s the deal, mistakes are a necessary evil. We learn from our mistakes; they make us better at our craft. Most importantly, they teach us what NOT to do. All important factors for creating success in anything that you do.

3 Failure Opens New Opportunities that You Might Not Consider Otherwise – There are Times when Failure actually opens up new doors in life that bring you to places you had never fathomed of before. Why? Because you were too busy in the world you were focused on. Sometimes failure jars us down new paths.

4 Failure helps you become better at dealing with disappointment – Here is an important life lesson. When we fail at things that are important to us, we are given an opportunity by the universe to toughen up and deal with disappointment. It’s like what Winston Churchill says, “it’s the courage to continue that counts.” Resilience is key. Resilience is a muscle worked out by failure.

5 Failure shows us how to practice acceptance – both of life and oneself– Last, Failure gives us the opportunity to learn to practice acceptance. Sometimes, a situation is out of our control. If we can accept it for what it is and accept ourselves for who we are, we will come out the other side as better people as a result.

Instead of viewing failure as a bad thing or being angry with yourself for being unsuccessful, consider the good opportunities that have come to you as a result. You decide what is a failure and what is a success. If you learn from an experience, then you are successful, don’t you think? Remember, we all have what it takes to be successful in life and it’s never too late to start!
