That leaves you with two options. You can believe everything they say and let them tare down your self-esteem or you can learn how to deal with these personalities with a peaceful yet unaffected attitude. So… without further ado.
3 Ways to Deal with Negative People
Realize you don’t need their approval in life
What is it about these overlay negative, angry, and abusive people that make us feel like we need to win over their approval? The first thing that you need to know is that your personhood—who you are—has nothing to do with them, but everything to do with you and how you feel about yourself. If you base your self-worth on their attitude towards you, you’ll never be happy with you. In fact, they will have drawn you into their rabbit hole of unhappiness. Soon after you will discover yourself acting the same way towards others as a means of acceptance by adopting their worldview. Don’t do it! What is their approval worth to you anyway?
Realize you don’t need to define yourself by others, especially those who see through the world through negative lenses
We are all created equal. We are all born into this world with as much a right to be here as the next. It’s a cruel world we live in, but in order to rid yourself of negative people and negative influences, you must stop defining yourself through the eyes of others. Just because one person sees you one way, that does not make it a reality. In fact, you create your own reality, so don’t give that power away to someone else, especially someone who will create an awful reality for you.
Surround yourself with people who love you and want the best for you
One of the most effective means for combat against negative influence in your life is to build yourself an amazing support system of people who believe in you, love you, and uplift you. It’s amazing how much negativity you can endure when you have the support of loved ones. Choose to define yourself the way they see you and cut out the people who look upon you with the evil eye.
Who in your life has been the negative influence you’ve been defining yourself by? If you have been allowing people to drag you down then perhaps it’s time you start making some choices to cut them out and stop allowing them to decide who you are. That’s up to you!
