When Chasing Love Isn’t Really About Love

This article is for all the people who have been chasing love in all of the wrong places and for all the wrong reasons. There are times when being alone is better than living a life of love that isn’t worth having. That might be strange to hear after we have published so many articles talking about how powerful and important love is in this world. There’s some love that is unhealthy and possibly even detrimental to the soul. Here are a few things to remember when you are looking for love in your life.

When Chasing Love Isn’t Really About Love

Love is never only about one person:

If you are looking for love out of selfish reasons because you need it, because it is going to uplift you, then you are not looking for true love. You are looking to feed your ego. In this way, you are looking for a love that is not worth living. Likewise, if you are pouring your heart and soul into loving someone else, but their love back to you is not adequate or it is selfish in that they want your love to feed their ego, then that too is a love that is not worth living.

You should never have to chase love down:

Love is not something to be chased down. It is not a reward, it is not a race, it is not a status symbol. If you have to chase love, then that is not the love for you. Love is peaceful. Love is free-flowing. Love will come to you and you will never have to go to it.

You should never have to fight for someone to love you:

If you feel as though you have to fight for somebody to love you, then that is not real love. You should never have to fight for someone’s affections. When you love yourself and you put that same energy into you, you will never have to fight for love again. You know and love yourself enough in this scenario that you don’t feel like you have to fight for somebody else to love you. When you find the right person they will love you for who you are and who you know yourself to be via self-love.

Love is not something that is earned through service:

True love does not come about with acts of service, although this can be a good way to express love. If you feel like you have to do certain things or be a certain way in order for someone to love you, then that is saying that you feel like you are not worth loving all on your own. We have news for you, you are worth loving all on your own. No one should ever have to work for love as they do for money to survive. Love is free. Love is something that can never be taken away,

Love should never be forced upon someone:

You can’t force somebody to love you. That is not real love. Games of guilt, manipulation of emotions, the pressure put on another person to feel a certain way may seem like you’re pushing somebody in the direction to love you, but really that love is not real. It’s not real because you cannot force someone to love. Love is a gift that is given by the universe to a person. Love cannot be manifested, only accepted.

In the end, the best we can do is learn to love ourselves and open our hearts so when “real” love finds us we will be ready for it.
