Love Yourself Anyway
I am convinced that the greatest victory we can achieve in this life is to develop a beautiful love affair. A love that stretches you. Expands you. Holds you safely. A love that wraps its arms around you. A great love that cannot be swayed. And that love, my love, is the love you have for you. It’s the quality of the relationship you have with yourself.
Because we’re too damn hard on ourselves. We beat ourselves up. We take it all so seriously. And I love that about us. I love that we care. I love that we know our lives and our actions matter. But it’s important to remember that we’re also human. Humans who need rest. Humans who are learning. Humans who are doing the best that we can.
I hope you don’t finish the to-do list and still love you.
I hope you eat all the chocolate and still love you.
I hope that if you don’t get the deal, you still love you.
I hope you say, “Oh shit, I really screwed that one up” and still love you.
I hope that when you don’t get a callback, you still love you.
I hope you put your foot in your mouth and still love you.
I hope, when you know you could’ve done better, you still love you.
I hope that even though you haven’t hit your goal, you still love you.
I hope you have such an unshakable bond that no matter what happens, you still love you.
I hope that whatever shitty situation life throws you, you still know how to love you.
I hope you let other people love you.
I hope you watch movies all day and still love you.
I hope you crumble to the floor some days and still love you.
I hope someone disagrees with you and you still love you.
I hope you take a week off and still love you.
I hope you don’t get all the “likes” and still love you
I hope you give yourself what you need.
I hope you ask for help and still feel strong.
I hope you listen to your heart and its desires. And to your body when it’s tired.
I hope you trust your instincts and yourself (because you’re actually that good).
And I hope you create. I hope you create now. Before more learning or more classes.
Because you love yourself that much.
That’s when life gets really good, my friend. When you really, truly, deeply know how to love you. No matter what’s going on. When you can be messy, emotional, exhausted and utterly human and still feel solid within yourself.
Because that’s when you start to relax deeply into your life. That’s when you start to create without fear. That’s when you start to feel free.
I hope you can be human and love yourself anyway.
