How to Declutter Your Brain in 3 Easy Steps

Sometimes our brains are very much like our living space. If we just allow them to fill up and not declutter them, it can get really messy in there. Every day you have an intense amount of thoughts running through your brain and a good portion of those thoughts you would probably be better without. So, are you ready to wash your dirty laundry of thoughts

Here’s what to do to declutter your brain:

Change your negative thinking patterns

Easier said than done, right? Changing your neuro pathways isn’t easy. It takes time, patience, dedication, and motivation. When you spend your time thinking negative thoughts, you are wasting your life little by little. This time adds up after a while. Ten minutes an hour, an hour a day, seven hours a week, 364 hours a year, or 15 days a year! Considering how fast the human brain processes and how many thoughts we have per day, that’s being generous it’s likely more than 15 days a year you spend on negative thinking. You are taking years off your Life now.

So how do you change these thinking patterns? Whenever you have a negative thought, push it far away (mentally) and think about what you are most grateful for instead. If you feel fat and ugly, think I don’t really care because I am thankful I have my health and my family. Get the idea? Continue this process over and over again until your brain starts doing it on its own.

Don’t sweat the small stuff

Here’s one you’ve probably heard a million and one times. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Bad things happen every day that we have no control over. We all make mistakes in life. We have two options. We can choose to hold onto these things and let them tear us down, or we can forget about them and choose to focus on the things that make us happy. In the end, we have no one else to blame for our wallowing than ourselves.

Stop worrying so much

There’s a Swedish proverb that says, “Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.” And that is so true. Sometimes we worry excessively about things that do not matter. We make hem a bigger part of our lives than they need to be. We worry about things that have happened when they cannot be changed. We worry about things that will happen when they haven’t even happened yet. It’s tough to feel out of control sometimes, but sometimes we need to loosen up a bit and enjoy the ride.

Cleaning out and decluttering these three bad habits from your brain is sure to make you feel more peaceful, relaxed, and happy. Don’t think you are abnormal for being this way and don’t be frustrated with yourself. We all get messy houses every so often, but you don’t have to spend the rest of your life living that way. You can clean it up, clear it out, and declutter just like you can in the physical world. So, what are you waiting for? The time is NOW! 🙂
